How well do you know your fruits and veggies?
I’m sure some of you have their own favorite fruits and veggies. If you’ll ask me, mine is Mango for fruits and as for veggies? Hmmm, I don’t know if corn is part of the veggie family. Haha! sorry.
So anyway, I want to share this interesting article from Candy Magazine May 2002 issue. (btw, I’m a big fan of Candy Mags way back in High School =])
Anyways, back to our topic. Let’s start off.
Did you know that,
1. A medium tomato can give you 40% of the recommended daily allowance for vitamin C?
2. Half of a grapefruit can give you all the vitamin C your body needs for the day?
3. Cauliflower means cabbage flower because it is a member of the cabbage family?
4. You can just rub a cut onion to heal an insect bite?
5. An apple, onion and potato all the taste the same? You think they taste different because of their smell. Test it! Pinch your nose and take a bite from each. They will all taste sweet. – eww.. I don’t eat onions alone. I didn’t know about this. Haha!
6. Eating too many carrots can give your skin a slight orange hue? Just stayy off them for a while to return to your normal skin tone. – so if you’re a carrot junkie! hahaha, better stay out of it for a while or else you’ll be walking looking like a human carrot.
7. Broccoli is the only vegetable that is a flower. – omg, this too! but I kinda love broccoli =]
8. The tomato was called “Apple of Paradise” by the Germans and the “Apple of Love” by the French.
9. Lachanophobia is the fear of vegetables. - fear of vegetables? why would they fear of it?
10. Apples do a much better job than caffeine in perking you up in the morning. – REALLY? I’ve been taking in a lot of caffeine! I should try this one for a change!
11. Tomatoes are good source of vitamin A?
12. The inner temperature of a cucumber can be as low as 20 degrees cooler than the outside temp? Thus, saying “cool as a cucumber”.
Cool right? Haha!
